JAKARTA – The National Disaster Management Authority (BNPB) confirms that Indonesia is not affected by the volcanic ash of the eruption of Taal Volcano located in Batangas, Philippines, since Monday (12/1).

 

By monitoring InAWARE, colum of volcanic ash of Taal Volcano is monitored moving away the territory of Indonesia, towards northeast or pacific ocean, from the crater located in the middle of Lake Taal. 

 

Based on official authority of Philippines, column of ash 1 km high from the crater. Philippines Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said that volcanic ash fell in areas close to a crater, Tagaytay, Batangas and Cavite.

 

Ash volcanic also covers Silang and Amadeo in Cavite and Calamba, Santa Rosa and San Pedro City in Province of Laguna. A number of schools in Region Calabarzon, Centre Luzon and Metro Manilo are closed due to safety and security.

 

According to NDRRMC Philippines, around 6.000 residents have been evacuated to Batangas, most of them are from San Nicolas, Balete and Talisay. So far there is no casualties due to eruption.

 

Besides the eruption of the Taal Volcano also made Ninoy Aquino International Airport temporarily closed and all flights canceled for security and safety reasons.

 

170 Indonesian Citizens Will be Evacuated 

So far the Indonesian Embassy in Manila has taken steps to anticipate the evacuation plan, in connection with the eruption of the Taal Volcano.

 

"We urge all Indonesian citizens to comply with the disaster warning delivered by the Philippine government," the official announcement of the Indonesian Embassy in Manila through his official Facebook account.

 

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is preparing an evacuation operation against 170 Indonesian Citizens (WNI) students who are in Cavite, the area affected by the eruption is quite severe.

 

Until this news release was released, there were no reports of casualties from Indonesian citizens (WNI) who were in the Philippines over the impact of the eruption of the Taal Volcano.
