JAKARTA – A large number of incidents ended with disasters in some parts of Indonesia. National Disaster Management Authority (BNPB) reported that landslides and floods have affected dead casualties, injured, evacuation and damages to settlements and infrastuctures. BNPB has coordinated with local disaster management agency (BPBD) and monitored the disasters in some parts of Indonesia.
Flood occurred in Sukanagara Village, Padaherang, Pangandaran, Jawa Barat since Friday (23/2) morning. Water level has been up to 2,8 meters in some spots that inundates 32 houses. The flood caused 32 HH (94 people) evacuated.
Besides, flood also occurred in Tarisi and Cikaronjo Village, Wanareja, Cilacap, Jawa Tengah. BPBD has conducted emergency response, one of the efforts was to forward logistic assistance to 628 HH (1.634 people) affected by the flood. Around 477 houses were inundated in the village. The flood was triggered by high rain intensity so that water level raised at around 14.00 local time on Friday (23/2).
Other area affected by the flood that triggered by high rain intensity were Bojong Koneng, in Bogor and Cibadak in Kota Bandung. These areas were affected by water on Thursday (22/2) and the affected people were supported by BPBD. No casualties were due to these incidients however some houses were inundated.
Meanwhile, landslide occurred in some spots in Jawa Tengah. BNPB categorized the landslide as the deadliest hydro-meteorology disaster. As many as landslide were triggered by high intensity of rain. The landslides in Purbalingga and Brebes were monitored in two spots i.e. Rajawetan and Pasir Panjang Village.
Landslide in Purbalingga has caused 4 people killed, 5 injured and 1 heavy injured on February 22, 2018. While the landslide in Pasir Panjang, Brebes, caused huge damages and loss. Until today (24/2) 9 people killed (2 casualties have not been identified yet) and 13 missing. BPBD Brebes has established a command post located in one of local residents’ house.
Responding to the landslide disaster Brebes, The Minister of BNPB Willem Rampangilei visited an affected area and gave direction on field. During a coordination meeting with the Regent of Brebes, TNI / Polri, and related offices at Pasir Panjang Kab.Brebes Village post, Willem Rampangilei said, "As per the direction of the president there are two things that must be done immediately, first do the same operation. Willem explained at the Command Post on Friday (23/2). BNPB has provided financial assistance to implement emergency.
“The needs for next 7 days have been fulfilled, urgent needs are required such as blanket, and BNPB will provide the assistance as soon as possible from Jakarta to be delivered.”
During the visit (24/2) the minister of BNPB visited Pasir Panjang and a dam of Cisanggarung River that was broken due to the flood. He greeted survivors in Bojongsari, Brebes.
The emergency response on landslide in this village involves TNI, Police, volunteers, community organizations and local village officials. Search operation on Friday (23/2) at 15.30 WIB was stopped because of heavy rain. BPBD assisted by TNI and Police and local SKPD have installed signs warning of landslide on road linking between District of Palem and District of Banjarharjo. The Regent of Brebes has also established a landslide emergency response status, as of 22 February 2018 - March 7, 2018.
Not only landslides in Brebes, but a number of villages in 5 districts were affected by floods. Central Java Provincial BPBD reported that floods occurred in 27 villages in 5 subdistricts. The following areas are identified as being affected by the flood:
1. Brebes 8 villages (Pemaron, Pulosari, Krasak, Terlangu, Wangandalem, Kel. Limbangan Kulon, Brebes, Gandasuli)
2. Wanasari 6 villages (Lengkong, Jagalempeni, Glonggong, Sidamulya, Pebatan, Sisalam)
3. Losari, Kalibuntu 11 villages (Karangsembung, bojongsari, Babakan, Kalibuntu, kedungneng, randusari, Pekauman, losari Kidul, Losari lor, Pengabean, Karangdempel). BPBD reported 3 people dead, i.e. in Kecipir 1 person and Bojongsari 2 persons. Flood also inundated along road of Pantura and toll KM 238 in Bojongsari.
4. Cileduk 1 village (Cileduk) affected toll Km 237
5. Tanjung 1 village (Luwungbat)
Public is encouraged to be prepared and recognized condition of the surrounding environment. High rainfall and long duration can trigger floods and landslides. If people need information related to areas prone to flood and landslide disaster can contact local BPBD.
