Forest and Land Fire Taskforce Riau Extinguish Fire in Conservation Forest of Giam Siak Kecil

RIAU -  BPBD Province of Riau monitored fire sports in the area of the conservation forest of Giam Siak Kecil, Bengkalis Regency, Riau on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at around 10.30 local time. The haze management taskforce were on ground to extinguish and to insulate land so that fire did not spread. 

Five hectares of affected burnt area is in peatland with palm trees and shrubs. Personnel who were deployed for extinguishing fire were from Manggala Agni Daops Dumai (1 team), Koramil 04 Mandau/Pinggir, Polsek Pinggir, Fire Department of Mandau, MPA, community, RPK PT Arara Abadi and KPH SM. GAK (BBKSDA Riau). The personnel used some equipment supported from the agencies involved in the taskforce. 

RPK Sinar Mas supported a helicopter Superpuma with additional 10 ground personnel for conducting water-bombing. The water-bombing was conducted 42 times. Until now, the fire is still on going.
